What makes ICMS different from other existing student societies?

• We aim to be a global network as opposed to a regional society.

• We do not merely aim to be a country-based representative coalition of Malaysian students studying abroad. As far as possible, we aim to limit membership to maintain the spirit and values of our council.

• We do not merely act as a mediator between companies and our members. Rather, our aim is develop our members so that they are more marketable to employers.

Who can join ICMS?

Anyone who is firstly a Malaysian Citizen and secondly is a Scholar within the meaning of the definitions below:

  • A person who is currently pursuing a degree or equivalent (e.g., ACCA) in a university; or
  • A person who has just completed a pre-u programme and is entering into a university within 1 year; or
  • A person who has just graduated from a degree programme but is not in the workforce yet.
  • There is no age limit on who qualifies as a Scholar.
Can non-Malaysian students join?
Like our namesake, we only recruit Malaysian students to join ICMS.
How long is the term for each Council?
Each term lasts around one and a half years, beginning from tenure as Junior Associates for half a year, to a position as an Associate or Director. As Junior Associates, members will gain an opportunity to take up a plethora of activities under the guidance of current Associates to gain an insight of ICMS. After that period, Junior Associates will officially become Associates and perform their tasks within their respective role choices.
How much time do ICMS Associates need to commit?
The commitments made by each Associate varies across different person as this highly depends on person’s willingness to contribute and learn throughout his or her term.
Do I need a scholarship to join ICMS?
No, you do not need to be a scholarship holder to join. You only need to be a scholar, that is, a person who is taking up or about to take up a full time tertiary or post-tertiary education.
How do I join ICMS?
Our applications open every year between September to October. Missed or late applicants will not be entertained and they will have to wait for the application cycle for the following term. The screening process includes an online application followed by an interview session. Successful applicants will then each receive a confirmation email and the title of Junior Associate.
